Jessica S
This month’s spotlight is our new Accounting Administrator – Jessica!
She joined NTECC in April having previously worked for the State of Minnesota in the Department of Human Services and the Department of Employment and Economic Development for the last 5 years!
The three words/phrases she uses to describe NTECC are “human-centric, innovative, and knowledgeable.” According to her, true leadership “means setting a clear example through your work and behavior, while supporting the people around you so they can succeed. It’s about accountability, making thoughtful decisions, and communicating clearly, especially in challenging situations. I also think good leaders create an environment where people feel respected, heard, and motivated to do their best.”
Her favorite part of the job so far is her “getting a clearer picture of how everything fits together – especially seeing how invoices, payments, and reconciliations connect. It’s been satisfying starting to recognize patterns and feel more confident navigating the system. I also like that the work is structured but still requires attention to detail.” Meanwhile, the hardest part of the job so far is “maintaing absolute accuracy and competing deadlines.”
For prospective candidates, her advice is to “come in with a willingness to learn and ask questions. There’s a lot to take in at the beginning, so being proactive and open to feedback really helps. Also, stay organized and pay attention to details early on, it makes a big difference as you start handling more responsibility.”
