Social Media Policy

NTECC Public Comment Disclaimer

 Professional Use

 All official agency-related communications through social media and social networking outlets will remain professional in nature and in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and policies.  Any content maintained in a social media format related to NTECC business, including a list of subscribers, posted communication, and communication submitted for posting, may be deemed as a public record subject to public disclosure

Requests for emergency services should be directed to 9-1-1 and not through social media sites.  Individual complaints, concerns, or service requests should be directed to the NTECC’s non-emergency number and will not be addressed via social media. 

To protect your privacy and the privacy of others, please do not include sensitive personally identifiable information.  Social media sites should not be considered secure.

 Public Commenting and Posting

The NTECC’s social media sites serve as limited public forums and all content published is subject to monitoring and moderation.

User-generated posts will be rejected or removed if any of the following apply.

  • Content not related to the topic raised for discussion.
  • Violent, profane, obscene, or pornographic content and/or language.
  • Content that incites violence.
  • Content that includes or divulges Personal Identifiable Information or Protected Health Information.
  • Malicious software or programs that contain or spread viruses.
  • Conduct in violation of any federal, state, or local law.
  • Information that may compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems.
  • Content that promotes discrimination on the basis of race, color, age, religion, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, genetic characteristics, national origin, disability, military or veteran status, political opinions, or affiliations.
  • Threatening or harassing content.
  • Content that violates a legal ownership interest, such as a copyright, of any party.
  • Content that incites or promotes violence or illegal activities.
  • Content that contains information that reasonably could compromise individual or public safety.
  • Content that advertises or promotes a commercial product or services, or an entity or individual.
  • Content that promotes or endorses political campaigns or candidates.

The NTECC reserves the right to delete, disable or remove any content, at its discretion, that does not comply with these rules.  Users who violate these rules may be banned from future commenting or blocked from the social site where the violation occurred.

Following or “friending” persons or organizations is not an endorsement by the NTECC and is only intended as a means of communication. Any references or links to a specific entity, product, service or organization posted by individuals on the NTECC Social Media Sites should not be considered an endorsement by the NTECC, its departments, or its employees.

The NTECC reserves the right to discontinue any or all social media sites at any time.
